Gloucestershire Kickstart Scheme – we’ve shot past the 30 placements minimum!

Update – as of the 24th September, we’re at 51 confirmed placements across 26 companies!

We recently announced that we’d lead a group of companies and organisations to offer thirty or more wholly subsidised placements for out-of-work young people in Gloucestershire.

                                                  Gloucester Docks

The Kickstart scheme is a £2bn government fund designed to get people into work, at a difficult time for many. Redundancies have hit under 25s the hardest since lockdown began, putting quarter of a million people in this age group out of work.

Here’s the page we created to explain the scheme, and why it’s a win-win for both young people and companies around the country.

It’s where we’ve collected interest that we then need to take to our local job centre.

Well – in just two weeks, we’ve passed the thirty minimum placements threshold, across dozens of local companies representing a huge range of industries all around the county! We’re up to fifty one placements committed.

(Don’t let that put you off if you’d still like to get involved – you can let your interest be known using this simple form).

The companies, besides us (we’re offering five placements) are:

  1. Iron-Mills – e-commerce (food products) – Cheltenham

  25. Outdoor & Cycle Concepts (Cotswold Outdoors, Runners Need and Snow + Rock) – retail – Cirencester

The next step is to take this interest to our local job centre and go from there. I’d just like to say thank you to everybody that has both joined and shared news of this collective. It’ll make a genuine difference, and I’m confident we’ll find some incredibly talented young people we just otherwise wouldn’t have come across.
